Meta- "Artificial" Nature

There was a lot of points made in both the launch and the query posts for our first blog assignment. Each writer had their own reaction and thoughts on both the of the readings; "The End of Nature" by Bill Mckibben and"Nature is Everywhere" by Emma Marris. A trend I saw in the post was the concept of "artificial" nature and how what we call nature is in reality not true nature. The natural "true" wilderness has been taken out by human influence and although it has not gone extinct it still suffers from human's control over it. We are not connecting with nature but subjugating it to our own whims. When you mow your lawn is that not pushing nature back so you have a nice lawn to look at? Is what we do in nature truly connecting with it? Does being in a park and hiking trails or having picnics connect us to nature? Are we able to really relate to nature?
